Romans 8:5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
So those who are according to the flesh now set their minds on the things of the flesh. How do you know whether a man is according to the flesh? It is not primarily by his external actions we can be deceived by that. You know a person can go to church to the meetings and pray and read the Bible and fast and even be involved in missionary activity and be a full-time worker but if his mind is set on the things of the flesh, the question is where is your mind ? If your mind is on the things of the flesh then you are in the flesh, whatever religious activity you may be engaged in. Those who are according to the Spirit that means those who follow the Holy Spirit. How do you know that whether you're following the Holy Spirit? Their mind is set on the things of the Spirit. So you can know whether you're following the dictates of the flesh or following the Holy Spirit by seeing where your mind is set. Not your mind is tempted but where is it set, what do you choose? There may be thoughts of temptation the flash into your mind every now and then, that means nothing. Where is your mind set? That is the important question.
